WORK TO BEGIN ON NEW CITY QUAYS CAR PARK

The construction of a new 900-space multi-storey car park as part of the City Quays development at BelfastHarbour is set to begin on 18th August.

 

Local firm Felix O’Hare Ltd has been appointed as the contractor for the £18million project, which is key to the delivery of the overall City Quays masterplan. The development is required by both existing and future City Quays office occupiers as an integral part of the offer, sitting alongside other forms of travel to work methods.

 

It is hoped that the 12-month project, located on the former SeaCat surface car park site – situated between Donegall Quay, Tomb Street and the Cross-Harbour Bridge - will create 100 construction jobs.

 

The multi-storey car park will be developed and owned by Belfast Harbour who, when complete, will contract out the operation of the carpark.

The car park will deliver leading-edge parking solutions including mobile payment platforms as well as the provision of electric car charging points.

 

Design features will include provision of dedicated pedestrian walkways along the car park decks, enlarged car parking space size and greater floor to ceiling height to allow for the unhindered rear access to estate cars and SUVs.

 

The external façade has also been designed to ensure the building sits within the design quality of the rest of the City Quays masterplan.

 

This latest development to be taken forward by Belfast Harbour will join the City Quays office buildings and a 188-bedroom AC by Marriot hotel.
